Fund raising: Offering a jobortunity

Enjoying cycling through Africa... why not using that to collect money for something more useful than me riding my bike?

Thinking of what organisation I wanted to support, I had some clear criteria: it should be in Africa, it should be something I personally believe in and trust, and preferably teaching how to fish instead of handing out fish.

Jobortunity

From my time in Tanzania, I know the Jobortunity Training Institute in Arusha. Jobortunity offers Tanzanian youth an opportunity to get and keep a job. The students acquire the necessary skills to work in the hospitality industry in a training focused on work attitude. It helps young people aged 18-24 to create a future for themselves. In addition it helps Tanzanian companies to obtain staff with a positive and professional work attitude.

Jobortunity represents what I believe in, it works on a problem I have seen and been experiencing while working in Africa; it is hard for youth to find a good job, at the same time it is hard for companies to find qualified employees. Bridging that gap benefits both youth and companies. You can read here how Jobortunity bridges this gap.

Sponsoring goal

Jobortunity currently has an unreliable internet connection. Due to infrastructural challenges in Tanzania and the Jobortunity's location, getting reliable internet access requires an investment. As knowing how to use the internet is crucial for most jobs, I am determined to collect the money required for this!

Sponsoring scheme

No funds without sponsors. Therefore the request: please help me to collect the money for a reliable internet connection for Jobortunity!

I offer four sponsoring options:
  • distance cycled: the total sum depends on the number of kilometers (or miles) I cycle. Be careful; it may be as much as 11.963 kilometers (7,500 miles) if I don't get lost. More, if I do, or less if the African belly bugs get me.
  • section win: the tour is devided into 8 sections. For each section a classification will be published. Do you want to push me? Sponsor me per section win (or 2nd or 3rd place) in the women's classification.
  • over all classification: any race has a winner. And a number 2 and 3. Do you want to push me big time? Pledge a donation for Tour d'Afrique victory in the women's classification! (and for the places 2 and 3 if you want to enhance the chances that you can actually donate your money)
  • lump sum: a fixed contribution, independent from my achievement, if you are unsure about my cycling  shape and want to be sure you can donate your money.
Want to donate? Use the 'Donate' button on the right of this page, alternatively a transfer to my PayPal or Dutch or German bank account can be made, or contact me directly over email or facebook and I will get in touch with you!

It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway; all the money collected will benefit Jobortunity, and will not be used to finance my trip!
